寄生粒子系统以寄生为理念在尊重白塔寺区域环境的基础上,低姿态、低成本、灵活轻盈地介入胡同。 进行胡同区域的更新是一个缓慢而复杂的过程,它意味着去不断揣摩和处理自己跟多方关系。白塔寺区域有着错综交织着层叠的历史、市井的文化、阡陌的胡同巷道和丛生的破碎院落空间。再加之胡同区域特有的密切交织着的邻里关系,在这么复杂厚重的环境里,新势力以任何形式的强行介入,都会引起巨大的不良反应与冲突。寄生是一种有效的选择。就像草原上的游牧民族和环境的关系,游牧(寄生)者的姿态很低,心态很轻,灵活性高。寄生以低成本的介入形式,以及对原环境影响较浅的介入行为进入,不会激起环境的强烈不适和排斥。寄生粒子空间利用自身的模块化与可变性的特质,会化解许多原环境难以继续承载与自我更新的矛盾,在经过磨合与协商后互相适应对方,逐渐与当地环境产生渐进式的融合,走向共生。
  
在2016北京国际设计周期间,一系列GUME小型工作坊也在寄生粒子公共空间展示广场举办,并且吸引了许多参观者参与其中。小尺度的软糖加牙签的找形练习,中尺度的装置设计与搭建,以及硅胶现场浇筑演示等活动将寄生粒子的民主搭建概念展示给大众。或许民主自治的改建方式会是一种更好的城市再生的方法。

Adaptive particle system is proposed as a democratic way to introduce new forces into the context of Baitasi hutong district.  Baitasi Area has a complex and overloaded history and local culture, meandering Hutong paths and clustered courtyards. In a such overloaded environment, intrusion of any new forces in any form could trigue strong reaction and confliction. Adaptive or parasitic method in this condition became an effective choice, similar to how nomadic groups adaptive to their environment. Nomadics (parasitics) are low-profiled, with little burden and adaptive. Nomadic life can be introduced to the environment with a low cost, with light effect, and will not trigue any repellent. Adaptive particle use its modularity and transformability, which will resolve many confliction between passing on tradition and regeneration. With continuing adaption through negotiation, it can merge with its environment gradually, finally become symbiosis.

During the Beijing Design Week 2016, a series of GUME workshop also took place and attracted many visitors to participate in. Small scale gummy candy exercise, design and construction of mid-scale spatial installation, and silicon casting introduction demonstrated the democratic construction concept of Adaptive Particle to the public. Perhaps democratic autonomy could be a better method for urban renewal movement.
