结构互动是我们对于罟坶最初的设计理念。作为一个结构装置,和整个结构的互动是前所未有的。作为一个结构系统,它的潜力将是无法估计的。它的灵活性,抗震性能,缓冲性能都值得做进一步的研究。
 
Structural interaction is our initial concept of Gume. As a structural installation, the interaction with the whole structure is unprecedented. As a structure system, the potential could be unexpected. The flexibility, the anti-seismic property, the buffer performance are worth of further study.
 
最初我们做了很多声音和震动的互动研究,但是电子元件的震动不足以使整个结构震动。之后我们反向思考这个概念。当游客摇动它,或者在它附近说话的时候,结构可以通过灯光和游客进行交流。中空的纸管和环状的节点都为了安装电子元件仔细设计过。作为触角的短纸筒穿过节点的圆洞,有两个堵头从两边将节点和触角纸筒固定在一起。电子元件被隐藏在内侧的堵头里,堵头被切割出来留出电子元件的开关和敏感度调节的位置。最后用气球保住堵头作为对电子元件的防水处理。
 
Initially, we did a lot of research on sound-vibration interaction, but the device’s vibration was not able to make the whole structure vibrating. Then we thought about this concept conversely. The structure can use light to communicate with the visitor when the visitor pushes them or speaks near them. Hollow paper tubes and ring-shaped silicon joints are well designed for electronic interaction devices. The short hair tubes can traverse through the joint’s hole and two caps can fasten the hair tube and joints together. The devices are hided in the interior cap and water- proofed by a balloon cover.

模具的设计和做工的好坏决定了节点是否能实现我们预期的设计。电脑数控机床可以很容易和精确地切割木头和泡沫。通过使用CNC技术,我们可以制作多种模具。为了能方便倒模,我们将模具设计成两个部分,并加入了几对榫卯,以使两部分紧密地咬合在一起。上面一半的模具有两个孔洞,一个是灌硅胶液体的洞,一个是排出空气的洞。CNC雕刻成型之后,模具需要打磨光滑,以避免在浇筑过程中出现渗漏的情况。
 
Well-designed and manufactured mold is the first step for well-performed joint. CNC machine can grave easily and accurately. By using this tool, we can make multiple types of molds with wood and foam. Molds are designed as two parts for easy demolding. We make several mortise and tenon joints to tightly interlock the two parts in position. On the top mold, there are a pour hole and an air escape hole. Molds need to be polished to avoid leaking in casting process.
